Cultural Activities

The Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit gives young footballers the chance to explore differences in their respective cultures by taking part in a variety of Chinese-themed activities. These eye-opening experiences help to broaden their horizons.

At the 2018 Summit, the Manchester United U16 team and the Hong Kong District All-Stars team went dragon boating in Tai Tam and also learned how to use nunchakus and perform a dragon dance from former World Martial Arts Champion Marvel Chow. Experiencing traditional Chinese culture strengthened team spirit, and players from both teams enjoyed completing the tasks and making new memories.

The Manchester United team also visited Tai Kwun – Centre for Heritage and Arts in Central. Touring this former Central Police Station compound that combines history with contemporary art deepened their understanding of Hong Kong’s past and present, and its unique “east-meets-west” charm.
