Racing Vision 2030
Racing Vision 2030 is the Club’s roadmap for developing an equine industry in the Greater Bay Area leveraging its triangle of racecourses at Sha Tin, Happy Valley and Conghua. This will support the growth of the Club’s racing brand while also bringing economic development and employment to the Greater Bay Area.
Fundamental to the Club’s vision is the agreement it signed in May 2021 with the Guangzhou Municipal Government to jointly take forward the promotion and development of the equine industry in the Greater Bay Area. This builds on the National Equine Industry Development Plan 2020-2025 promulgated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and General Administration of Sport in September 2020, which gives prominent coverage to both equestrian sport and horse racing as a sport.
Under the agreement, from the 2025/26 season the Club will host regular race meetings at its Conghua Racecourse, Guangzhou, the races to be run according to the Club’s rules and regulations. The Club will build a grandstand with a capacity of approximately 8,000 spectators. The Club will also expand stabling and training facilities at Conghua. A quarantine facility to support the local and international movement of horses will be developed and the establishment of a thoroughbred trading centre will be explored. To develop equine professionals and racing talent, the Club will provide comprehensive training. The cross-boundary movement of horses, fodder and veterinary medicines will also be streamlined.
In the immediate term, the Club looks forward to sharing its world-class racing with Mainland audiences and to providing more ownership and racing opportunities. Longer term, over the next 10 to 20 years, the aim is to develop a world-class equine industry. This could potentially encompass every aspect of the equine value chain, from the import and export of horses, to horse training and care, to the development of equine professionals and staff. Over time, races run at the Club’s three racecourses could create value for the development of a breeding industry.
