After the event, Apprentice P N Wong stated that in the middle stages she considered shifting her mount out to join the main body of the field, but when SUMMIT CHEERS was not travelling well enough she remained racing in the middle of the track to prevent SUMMIT CHEERS covering additional ground. 1 1 SWORD POINT (G448) K C Leung When questioned, K C Leung stated that his instructions were to endeavour to find cover on his mount as SWORD POINT had raced best when ridden in this manner. He said as a result entering the Back Straight he elected to shift in behind CALL ME GLORIOUS to trail that runner with cover. He said approaching the 700 Metres he observed TELECOM FIGHTERS commence a forward move and as a result he attempted to shift to the outside of CALL ME GLORIOUS to obtain a position one-off. He added that SWORD POINT responded only fairly to his urgings under its top weight of 135 lbs and when CALL ME GLORIOUS lay out slightly and TELECOM FIGHTERS held its line, he was unable to maintain that position and was steadied to avoid CALL ME GLORIOUS. Trainer F C Lor confirmed the instructions were to find cover on the horse. Sent for sampling post-race.

2 3 CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262) A Atzeni Crowded shortly after the start by SWORD POINT which shifted out slightly. The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by A Atzeni, rider of CAPITAL DELIGHT, 2nd placegetter, against SWORD POINT being declared the winner alleging interference approaching the 300 Metres. After considering the evidence, the Stewards determined that near the 400 Metres SWORD POINT commenced to shift out when clear of CAPITAL DELIGHT to do so. As SWORD POINT continued to shift out, CAPITAL DELIGHT improved into a tight run between BUNDLE OF CHARM and SWORD POINT, lay in and a short distance later then blundered when it struck the heels of SWORD POINT. As the Stewards were satisfied that SWORD POINT was clear to shift ground when it commenced to do so and that CAPITAL DELIGHT had contributed to striking heels when it lay in, they overruled the protest/objection and weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. At a subsequent inquiry, the Stewards confirmed their decision in the protest/objection that SWORD POINT was clear to shift ground when it commenced to do so and that CAPITAL DELIGHT had lay in and this was the principal reason for CAPITAL DELIGHT striking heels and blundering. As a result, no action was taken. Sent for sampling post-race.

He said in the Home Straight he was disappointed with the finishing effort of WUNDERBAR but could offer no explanation as to why it did not finish the race off strongly. He said near the 550 Metres he was taken wider when LUCKY ARCHANGEL was taken out by PAKISTAN LEGACY. He said at this point CONSPIRATOR changed stride and came under pressure soon after before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of JOYOUS LILY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, JOYOUS LILY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2 10 SKY DEEP (K041) A Atzeni When questioned, A Atzeni stated that the instructions were to hold a forward position but preferably with cover. He said when SKY DEEP jumped well he was obliged to go forward and cross runners to his inside which resulted in SKY DEEP racing in a more forward position than what he had anticipated. When questioned regarding his riding out, A Atzeni stated that when his mount shifted in near the 200 Metres it took some time to respond to his efforts to correct. He said as a result passing the 100 Metres SKY DEEP shifted out which presented a run to the inside for the winner ANOTHER WORLD. The Stewards were satisfied that Jockey Atzeni was riding in a manner to look after the safety of his fellow rider. Sent for sampling post-race.

Passing the 900 Metres NEW FUTURE FOLKS was steadied to avoid PACKING ANGEL (Z Purton) when that runner shifted in when not fully clear. Z Purton was advised to exercise more care. Raced tight between BUNDLE AWARD and KEEFY near the 300 Metres. After the event, B Thompson reported that his mount raced too keenly throughout the middle stages and as a result was unable to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between SILO and KEEFY (K C Leung) which, after shifting in and making contact with NEW FUTURE FOLKS (B Thompson), then shifted out and away from that runner when giving ground after initially being taken out slightly by NEW FUTURE FOLKS. Both K C Leung and B Thompson were advised to exercise more care.
