10 3 THE CONCENTRATION (H465) K C Leung Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between ALLOY KING (H Bentley) which shifted in slightly and WOODFIRE CHAMP which was taken out by FIRE BALL which in turn was taken out slightly by HERO STAR (Y L Chung). Both H Bentley and Y L Chung were advised to exercise more care. From the 700 Metres raced very wide and without cover.
9 4 WOODFIRE CHAMP (H292) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly. Shortly after the start was crowded for room. Leaving the 900 Metres commenced to over-race and for some distance thereafter got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of FIRE BALL.

1 6 HERO STAR (D033) Y L Chung (-3) Sent for sampling post-race.
11 7 FIRE BALL (D087) A Hamelin No report.

Then continued to lay in and had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200 Metres when positioned behind ALLOY KING. After the race, B Thompson reported that after obtaining clear running approaching the 200 Metres his mount finished the race off only fairly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, H Z TOURBILLON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

3 1 CHATEAUNEUF (J219) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
12 2 ACE ONE (G196) H Bowman At declaration time, A Atzeni was declared as the rider of both ACE ONE and SUPER GLORY. It was established that A Atzeni had a firm commitment to ride SUPER GLORY. As such, the Stewards permitted H Bowman to be substituted as the rider of ACE ONE. For this declaration error, Trainer D J Whyte was fined $2,000. When questioned regarding his riding, H Bowman stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as connections had assessed the early pace of the event would potentially be run inside of standard time. He said after settling back in the field he rode his mount along from the 600 Metres to improve where ACE ONE responded only fairly to his riding. He said entering the Home Straight he considered shifting to the outside of LUCKY QUALITY, but as ACE ONE was not travelling well enough to do so, he then elected to endeavour to improve into a run between LUCKY QUALITY and SUPER GLORY. He added that when SUPER GLORY shifted out slightly near the 250 Metres, he then directed his mount to the inside of SUPER GLORY to obtain clear running, however, shortly after SUPER GLORY shifted back in and when ACE ONE was then positioned inside the heels of SUPER GLORY, he was held up for clear running between the 200 Metres and the 150 Metres. He further stated that over the concluding stages ACE ONE finished the race off only fairly. Trainer D J Whyte confirmed the instructions issued and stated that whilst ACE ONE had been ridden forward from wide draws in the past, such instructions were issued to offset the expected fast early pace of the event. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman, having regard to his explanations, were reasonable in the circumstances.
8 3 EVER SMART (J179) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded shortly after the start by LUCKY QUALITY which shifted out. Approaching the 1000 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from LUCKY QUALITY. After the race, H Bentley reported that after being hampered at the start his mount settled further back than what had been intended. He added EVER SMART travelled only fairly during the running of the event and finished the race off in a one-paced manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 4 FOXHUNTER KING (J044) H T Mo (-2) Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
11 5 WIN SPEED (J205) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.
5 6 MR VALIANT (G288) B Avdulla Bumped shortly after the start.
10 7 FLYING PHANTOM (J086) A Badel Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its barrier. Near the 600 Metres was eased away from CHATEAUNEUF (Z Purton) which shifted in. Z Purton was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.

9 1 BEAU GOSSE (G389) H Bowman Shortly after the start was bumped. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, H Bowman stated that from a wide barrier he elected to take up a forward position as instructed. He said when unable to cross runners to his inside BEAU GOSSE was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added that when placed under pressure from the 400 Metres BEAU GOSSE did not respond to his riding and gave ground in the Home Straight. Trainer D J Whyte advised that BEAU GOSSE had pleased him coming into tonight’s event but was of the opinion the wide run that the horse had endured was the reason for its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 2 MEDIC ELITE (G129) Y L Chung (-3) No report.
2 3 CHARMING STEED (E494) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

3 10 CASA LEGEND (G126) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly. After the race, A Atzeni reported that from an inside barrier he was requested to take up a forward position. 1 11 PRECISION GOAL (H016) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
10 12 HANG'S CHOICE (E311) M L Yeung No report.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 4 VANTASTIC CHOICE (G401) E C W Wong (-7) Making the Home Turn was held up behind SUPERB WITNESS which was giving ground. Sent for sampling post-race.
1 5 ACE POWER (J181) A Atzeni Shortly after the start raced tight to the outside of SO TREASURE which shifted out slightly. Near the 550 Metres was momentarily crowded by VALHALLA which lay in and away from SPEED SWORD. Near the 400 Metres was held up for clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
