Develops the physical, mental and social capabilities of young people and fosters an attitude of excellence
The HKFA Primary Youth Competition was first introduced and organised by the HKFA Grassroots Football in 2018. In 2019, the Competition was funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust with the objective of providing a professional platform for players during their golden age so that they may improve their standard of play, and this will help to plant the seeds for local football development in the long term.
The players, both boys and girls, are between the ages of 10 and 12 years old, and play for HKFA’s district teams, Premier League clubs’ youth teams, and commercial football schools. Through 7- or 9-a-side matches, players not only improve their football skills, but they also learn the value of fair play, cooperation, team spirit and respect for others, so that they are able to advance both their technical and social skills and be well-prepared for future challenges.
The competition also encourages players’ parents to come to the field to show their support. Together with guidance from the coaches, this creates a supportive atmosphere that puts into practice a far-reaching vision for Hong Kong football.
