Develops the physical, mental and social capabilities of young people and fosters an attitude of excellence
The Jockey Club Youth Football League is organised by the Hong Kong Football Association; supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust as Major Partner, and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR. Its objectives are to provide a sizeable league that will accommodate more local football players and prepare them to play in higher-level tournaments, even up to the professional level.
Held annually from the end of September to July of the following year, the Youth League is divided into five age groups – U13, U14, U15, U16 and U18 – with teams coming from each of the 18 districts to compete in the Premier League, 1st Division, 2nd Division and 3rd Division. Each age group is divided into two stages – the first stage is comprised of either a single or double round-robin tournament, whilst the second stage is comprised of a knockout tournament for the awarding of the FA Cup & FA Shield.
Women’s football is one of the major development areas in the Jockey Club HKFA 5-Year Football Development Programme. The Jockey Club Girls’ League and the Jockey Club Women’s League are important stages for girl players to gain experience playing in actual games. By participating at this local-level platform, quite a few of the players have an opportunity to play in an overseas league.
