Striding on together - the HKJC and equestrian sport share the same spirit of partnership and commitment to excellence.
Seven riders from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Equestrian Team represented Hong Kong at the inaugural Asian Championships from 1-8 December 2019. The second largest equestrian event in Asia following the Asian Games, the Asian Championships was held at the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Thailand. Along with the Asian Games, this is one of only two Asian events that boast the staging of all three Olympic disciplines, namely Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing.
The team travelled with nine competition horses, five of which were provided by the Club. Under the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan, the Club also supported the team with a group of professionals led by Chef D’Equipe Amanda Bond, who is also the Club’s Executive Manager, Equestrian Affairs. The professional team was comprised of performance managers, coaches, grooms, veterinarians, farriers and physiotherapists to ensure that both horses and riders were in top form for the Championships.
