Inspiring Health and Joy through Sports: JC Fit City - Run with Your Heart Carnival
19/05/2024

The "JC Fit City - Run with Your Heart Carnival" event took place on Sunday, 19 May 2024 at the West Kowloon Art Park. The event showcased over 20 sports experiential booths and classes, sports-themed photo spots inspired by Hong Kong landmarks, and rhythmic music performances, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere. The CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team provided extensive support for the sports carnival with volunteers from the Balloon Twisting Team, CARE Painters and CARE Band.

The "Run with Your Heart" event is an annual charity relay run organised by the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association. This event aimed to raise funds for the Elite Athlete Charitable Trust, as well as to promote the health benefits of sports. This year, the "Run with Your Heart" event has joined forces with the JC Fit City progamme, initiated and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. In the form of a carnival, the public was offered a series of activities that combined elements of sports and fun. These activities aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the benefits of exercise, enhance their interest in sports and encourage the integration of regular physical activity into their daily life.

To match the theme, the CARE Balloon Twisting Team crafted three types of balloons: volleyballs, horse-shaped and bicycles for participants. People of all ages loved these intricate balloons. Some participants even engaged in spontaneous "volleyball” games on the lawn after receiving their volleyball-shaped balloons.

CARE Painters also offered face and hand painting services to attendees, skillfully creating various designs on their faces and hands. The designs included different types of sports balls, horses, unicorns, and horseshoes, adding a festive touch to the event and were highly popular among families.

Despite unfavourable weather conditions that led to an early conclusion of the carnival, the enthusiasm of the CARE volunteers remained strong. Particularly noteworthy was the perseverance of the CARE Band, who delivered a lively performance in the rain and sang inspirational songs that echoed the unwavering spirit of sports. The event concluded warmly with a big round of applause.
