The Hong Kong Jockey Club has been actively supporting the development of local football in partnership with the Football Association of Hong Kong, China for many years. To date, the Club has provided over HK$221 million in approved donations to support football-related projects to the HKFA. This included the Jockey Club HKFA Football 5-year Development Programme, launched in 2015, which encompassed a wide range of systematic training opportunities, competitions and tournaments for young people, as well as the development of local coaches and referees. The programme benefited over 100,000 participants. With the encouraging results, a new Jockey Club HKFA Football Development Programme began in 2020, which includes the annual Jockey Club Youth Football Development Programme – Summer Scheme.

In order to provide more opportunities for young players, the Club not only support multiple training schemes and competitions, but also becomes the title sponsor of the Jockey Club Sapling Cup for three consecutive seasons starting from the 2022/23 season. This sponsorship will help potential players to receive more assistance, continue to improve and excel. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of football talent in Hong Kong.
