Develops the physical, mental and social capabilities of young people and fosters an attitude of excellence
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has long been committed to local football development. Through its partnerships with professional organisations, community groups and academic institutions, it hopes to help young players build self-confidence and a spirit of leadership and teamwork. This in turn will lead to stronger ties with the community.
Since 2012, the Club has collaborated with Manchester United on a number of different programmes designed to develop the physical, mental and social capabilities of young people. At the same time, the Club has also designed professional workshops for community coaches and parents. Ensuring that all bases are covered in promoting the development of community football are The Jockey Club Youth Football Development Programme – Summer Scheme and the Jockey Club HKFA 5-Year Football Development Programme, both of which are funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
Without proper facilities, there would be no way to develop; therefore, the Club has supported the construction of the Jockey Club Kitchee Centre and the soon-to-open Tseung Kwan O Football Training Centre to also help in the promotion of community football and youth training.
Founded in 2014, the JC Community Cup is not only the first football title of the season, but also a major opportunity to give back to the community.
With pitches that can be arranged three ways for different training purposes, the Centre also opens its facilities to the public
To provide high-quality football facilities for the community, The Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre was constructed with a donation of HK$221 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club through its Charities Trust.
