Develops the physical, mental and social capabilities of young people and fosters an attitude of excellence
Parents and coaches play an integral role in a young footballer’s journey. In 2018, The Hong Kong Jockey Club introduced its first-ever HKJC Pass It On - Parents Workshop and HKJC Pass It On - District Elite Coach Education Workshop to offer fundamental and professional football training to parents and coaches. By introducing a world-class training approach and concepts, the programme assists parents and coaches in more effectively guiding young footballers, enabling them learn and grow together.
Organised by the Club in collaboration with the Hong Kong Football Association and the Manchester United Football Club, the HKJC Pass It On - Parents Workshop aims to provide opportunities to the parents of young footballers to become their children’s football and life coaches. A group of professional mentors are invited to share their secrets in the areas of football skills, sports nutrition and child psychology so that parents can support their children as they pursue their football dreams. Parents who complete the three workshops are eligible to register a team for the HKJC Soccer 4 - Parents-and-Kids Tournament so that through playing in competition they can share their feelings and enhance their understanding of the game.
In collaboration with Manchester United Football Club, the Pass It On - Elite Coach Education Workshop featured renowned coach training expert and Consultant of Manchester United Academy, John Peacock. Through his lectures on tactical trends and youth training concepts; classroom discussions and field training, a world-class experience was integrated into the local youth training system through the coaches that participated in the programme.
