Born in Hong Kong, Kenneth Cheng started riding at the age of eight and began training seriously when he was 14 years old. In the Beijing 2008 Olympics equestrian events in Hong Kong, he made history as the youngest ever member of the Hong Kong team. Kenneth represented Hong Kong at the Jinan National Games in 2009, where he won an individual bronze medal and a team bronze medal in jumping. He also won a team bronze medal at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.
Born in Austria, Patrick won Hong Kong's first-ever equestrian individual gold medal at the Jinan National Games in 2009. He also won a team bronze medal at the same event. In 2010, Patrick won another bronze medal at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and in 2016 he won the FEI World Jumping Chinese League. Patrick has shown great talent in eventing, winning the Chatsworth International Horse Trials CIC1* in May 2017. At the Tianjin National Games he will be the first Hong Kong rider to compete in both the eventing and jumping events, riding Jockey Club Dyke 5 and Cassini's Angel, respectively.
Raised in Hong Kong, Raena learned to ride at the age of six at the HKJC Lei Yue Mun Public Riding School. She further developed her skills at the HKJC Beas River Equestrian Centre. Raena was the first Hong Kong rider to compete in an FEI World Final (Gothenburg 2013) and at the FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games (Normandy 2014). This will be Raena's first appearance at the National Games, where she will ride Quintino 9.
Born in Hong Kong, Clarissa started riding at the age of nine at the HKJC Tuen Mun Public Riding School. She later went to the HKJC Beas River Equestrian Centre. Clarissa is a former member of the HKJC Junior Equestrian Team and won a team silver for Hong Kong at the 2013 CSIY-B in Thailand. In the same year, she was second in the junior competition at the FEI World Jumping Challenge in Austria. In 2016, Clarissa made history by winning Hong Kong's first-ever bronze medal at the World University Equestrian Championship in Sweden, riding Catokia 2. She will ride the same horse in the Tianjin National Games.
Born in Hong Kong, Jacqueline started riding at the age of five at the HKJC Beas River Equestrian Centre. Jacqueline has represented Hong Kong at three consecutive Asian Games, narrowly missing out on an individual medal in dressage at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. In preparation for the Tianjin National Games, she has been training on Jockey Club Connery under the Club-funded Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan.
After graduating from Hartpury College with an equine degree in 2001, Annie returned to Hong Kong to continue her career in equestrian sport, included serving as an instructor at the HKJC Beas River Equestrian Centre and at the HKJC Tuen Mun Public Riding School. Annie was a member of the eventing team which won a team bronze medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. She also narrowly missed out on an individual medal, finishing in 4th place. Annie has developed a strong partnership with Jockey Club Amy Lee 2 in preparation for the Tianjin National Games.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Thomas was introduced to riding by his older brother at the age of seven. Aged 17, he represented Hong Kong in the 2006 CSIY competition, where he was runner up. Following his victory at the 2014 Hong Kong Eventing Horse of Year Show, Thomas teamed up with HKJC Equestrian Team riders Annie Ho and Nicole Pearson to win Hong Kong's first-ever team bronze medal in eventing at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Thomas speaks highly of Jockey Club Charlene Old, praising his horse's balanced performance across all three events.
Hong Kong born Nicole Pearson started riding at the HKJC Pokfulam Public Riding School and later at the HKJC Beas River Equestrian Centre. She has been actively involved in all elements of the Hong Kong equestrian scene ever since. She has taken on many roles including as Pony Club instructor, RDA and Para Instructor, rehabilitation rider for ex-racehorses, steward, jumping judge, Chef d'Equipe and competitor. Nicole has represented Hong Kong in four Asian Games since 1986, and was an eventing team bronze medalist at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Nicole will be riding Jockey Club Weronique Show in her second National Games appearance.
