07/09/2017

HKJC equestrian riders complete their journey at the Tianjin National Games with 1 silver and 1 bronze

The equestrian competitions of the Tianjin National Games have come to a close with the HKJC Equestrian team riders winning two medals; Jacqueline Siu winning a silver medal in the dressage individual final and Clarissa Lyra claiming a bronze medal in the jumping individual competition.

The HKJC Equestrian team riders Annie Ho (horse: Jockey Club Amy Lee 2) and Thomas Ho (horse: Jockey Club Charlene Old) competed in the jumping test today (7 Sep), which is the last phase of the eventing competition.

Hong Kong has fielded its largest-ever equestrian team at this year’s National Games and competed in all three equestrian disciplines for the first time, with eight local riders contesting the jumping, dressage and eventing competitions. All Hong Kong riders competing in Tianjin are also members of the HKJC Equestrian Team.  They have been supported by an 11-strong team of HKJC veterinarians, farriers and other supporting staff under the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan that was initiated and funded by the Club.

Drawing on its equine expertise, the Club is pleased to support the development of equestrian sports through its public riding schools, by supporting the equestrian events of the Beijing Olympics and the Guangzhou Asian Games, and through nurturing elite riders who bring pride to Hong Kong.
