Racing Incident Report

After leaving the Parade Ring, it was noted that PLENTIFUL had spread its left front plate. This plate was refitted in the saddling stalls. PLENTIFUL was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, DOUBLE LUCK became fractious and bounded in the air, resulting in DOUBLE LUCK striking its head on the overhead barrier structure. A veterinary inspection of DOUBLE LUCK after the race found that horse to have a fractured nose and to be bleeding from both nostrils, however, this bleeding was as a result of a trauma and therefore DOUBLE LUCK was not deemed to have bled. Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE LUCK will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MR MARFACH was slow to begin and shortly after the start was crowded for room between SMART GIANT and DILIGENT III which shifted in. DR WIN began awkwardly and blundered. After this, DR WIN was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed and consequently raced further back in the field than is usual. Approaching the 1200 Metres, FLYING CHAPARRAL got its head on the side and shifted out after being brushed by EVERYBODY SINGS, resulting in SUPREME FLIGHT being taken out and causing SMART GIANT and PLENTIFUL to be taken wider. After being crossed by MY WHISKY after the 1000 Metres, MI REILLY shifted out, resulting in FLYING CHAPARRAL being obliged to race three wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. At the 200 Metres, EVERYBODY SINGS, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SMART GIANT which shifted in. The performance of HIGH COMMAND, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HIGH COMMAND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of EVERYBODY SINGS after the race did not show any significant findings. SMART GIANT and OPEN SESAME were sent for sampling.
<4/7/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>EVERYBODY SINGS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. EVERYBODY SINGS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall last Saturday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a stiff and restricted action. Before being allowed to race again, EVERYBODY SINGS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
