Racing Incident Report
ELEGANCE KLAMMER began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of DANZULU. FLYING SUPREME (Apprentice C Y Ho) began awkwardly and shifted in at the start, resulting in MOONWALK being hampered and taken in onto ADORATION. In this incident, Apprentice Ho lost the use of his right stirrup iron which he was not able to regain until approximately 100 Metres after the start. After this, FLYING SUPREME was taken across behind runners in an attempt to obtain cover, however, was not able to do so and consequently travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, CITY POWER was checked away from the heels of ADORATION which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEST FIT. EXPRESS WIN, which was following CITY POWER, was steadied in consequence. Approaching the 200 Metres, CITY POWER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEST FIT. Throughout the race, SUPREME WIN travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, K C Leung stated that he had been instructed to have DANZULU travelling in a midfield position if possible from barrier 1. He said after being bumped on the hindquarters by ELEGANCE KLAMMER at the start, DANZULU did not show any early speed and for this reason he used the whip on the horse after the 1300 Metres to have it obtain a more forward position. He said when DANZULU did not respond to his riding, he continued to use the whip on a number of occasions after the 1200 Metres to have it travel more kindly. He added after the 1000 Metres DANZULU commenced to travel better and he was able to obtain a position inside ELEGANCE KLAMMER and behind EXPRESS WIN. He said he placed DANZULU under pressure prior to the Home Turn and the horse responded only fairly to his riding. He added near the 300 Metres he used the whip on DANZULU in an attempt to have it finish off the race stronger, however, DANZULU did not show any turn of foot and it was not until after the 200 Metres that the horse commenced to finish off its race. He said he shifted the horse to the middle of the track and to the outside of MOONWALK after the 200 Metres and when placed under pressure finished off the race strongly. K C Leung was advised his explanation would be reported, however, he should ensure that he places his mounts under sufficient pressure so as to leave no room for query. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ELEGANCE DESIRE, D Beadman stated that the horse had worked strongly in the lead up to today’s race and a forward showing was expected. He said from the wide barrier he took ELEGANCE DESIRE across behind runners shortly after the start, however, it was not of concern to him that ELEGANCE DESIRE was positioned near the tail of the field as the horse had performed well when ridden in a similar manner previously. He said ELEGANCE DESIRE travelled strongly throughout the race and although it raced in restricted room momentarily near the 600 Metres between FLYING SUPREME and ELEGANCE KLAMMER still appeared as though it was going to finish off the race well. He said when the field quickened rounding the Home Turn, ELEGANCE DESIRE came under pressure and despite being ridden out in the Straight was most disappointing in its failure to finish off its race. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEST FIT, M Chadwick stated that the horse, which was attempting 1400 Metres for the first time today, did not settle as well as he had hoped in the lead. He said at the entrance to the Straight BEST FIT came under pressure and the horse got its head on the side and shifted out slightly. He added after this BEST FIT weakened in the Straight and, in his opinion, did not see out the distance of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of ELEGANCE DESIRE and BEST FIT after the race did not show any significant findings. ADORATION, SUPREME WIN and AMIGO were sent for sampling.
<13/6/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>ELEGANCE DESIRE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. ELEGANCE DESIRE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ELEGANCE DESIRE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination
