Racing Incident Report
On jumping, MERIDIAN PRIDE stumbled. MAGIC CHARIOT began awkwardly and lost ground. LIFELINE RAPIDE, which was standing with its head turned to the left, was slow to begin. In the early stages, OCEAN TRANQUIL from a wide barrier was steadied and taken back to obtain a position with cover. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MASTER DREAMER bumped the running rail, became unbalanced and lost ground when awkwardly placed inside MAGIC CHARIOT. On straightening, OURAJA became unbalanced and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of CLASSIC REUNION which at this time was shifted to the outside of ALL TIME HIGH into clear running. For some distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres, CLASSIC REUNION and FINGERS CROSSED raced tight as FINGERS CROSSED shifted to the outside of ALL TIME HIGH to obtain clear running. Approaching the 250 Metres, MERIDIAN PRIDE had difficulty obtaining clear running when attempting to improve into a narrow run between LUCKY DANSKE and ALL TIME HIGH. Throughout the race, CLASSIC REUNION travelled wide and without cover. Also throughout the race, BUCCANEER travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Y T Cheng (CRYSTAL) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a midfield position with cover if possible. He said CRYSTAL began well from the outside barrier, he immediately took hold of his mount in the hope he would be able to ride the horse as instructed. He said when he did this BUCCANEER which had drawn to his inside was also steadied and as a consequence he was required to come back and race at the rear of the field to avoid being caught wide. He said it was for this reason that CRYSTAL travelled further back than instructed. CAGA BOY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CAGA BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. MERIDIAN PRIDE and FINGERS CROSSED were sent for sampling.
