Racing Incident Report
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in while they considered whether FANTUZZI had had an unfair start. The official videos of the start were viewed. It was established that just prior to the start being effected FANTUZZI became restless, reared and was being assisted by an attendant in the barriers. As a consequence, when the gates opened, FANTUZZI was slow to begin. In the circumstances, the Stewards did not believe FANTUZZI had had an unfair start and weighed-in was declared on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge. SEASONS KNACK was slow to begin. ALL TIME HIGH, which had been intended to be ridden in a rearward position from a wide barrier, reared as the gates opened, lost ground and was then taken across behind runners. In the early and middle stages, ALL TIME HIGH proved difficult to settle. At the 1200 Metres, CHEERFUL HEART was carried wider by VICTORY TREASURE which at this time shifted to the outside of MATIRI KING to go forward. MY FAITH, which was following CHEERFUL HEART, was also carried wider. At the 800 Metres, MY FAITH and SUPER DANA were carried wider by MAN IN THE MIRROR which at this time was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of CHEERFUL HEART. Over about the final 150 Metres, HAPPY CONTENDER had difficulty obtaining clear running between SEASONS KNACK and MAN IN THE MIRROR. Because of this, HAPPY CONTENDER was not fully ridden out. At the 50 Metres, O Doleuze (DR MORE) momentarily dropped his left rein. Throughout the race, SUPER DANA travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. RED PEPPER and SUPER DANA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RED PEPPER and SUPER DANA after the race did not show any significant findings. SEASONS KNACK and MAN IN THE MIRROR were sent for sampling.
