Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, GLORIOUS RHYTHM became fractious, lunged forward and broke through the front gates. GLORIOUS RHYTHM was immediately reined in and returned behind the barriers where it was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the gates opened, SHINING DRAGON put its head down. GOODWOOD was slow to begin. CARE FREE PRINCE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of DANZIGMOUNTAIN. Shortly after the start, FRAMES DEPOT shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of JOYFUL WORLD. At the 1000 Metres, FLYING DAGGER was steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS RHYTHM. Making the Home Turn, FLYING DAGGER hung out, then at the 350 Metres was steadied to avoid the heels of FRAMES DEPOT which shifted out. Also making the Home Turn, FINGERS CROSSED was initially carried wider by FLYING DAGGER, then got its head on the side and hung out away from that horse. In the Straight, FRAMES DEPOT hung out. Also in the Straight, JOYFUL WORLD hung in. FLYING DAGGER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, FLYING DAGGER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed it to have a displacement of the soft palate. He also said the horse had finished distressed and was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING DAGGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FINGERS CROSSED and CAPABILITY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FINGERS CROSSED and CAPABILITY after the race did not show any significant findings. BOREAS and SHINING DRAGON were sent for sampling.
