Racing Incident Report
NOBLE SILENCE stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. SPARKLING STAR and FORTUNE WARRIOR were slow to begin. From the outside barrier, MY BROTHER was taken across behind runners. An inquiry into the reason for SPEEDING MOLLY and SIAMERIC TE SPECSO being severely checked approaching the winning post on the first occasion was adjourned to a date to be fixed. In addition, the Stewards will interview the trainers of MR COOL and GRAND COMMANDS regarding the riding instructions which were issued. When SIAMERIC TE SPECSO checked, SPARKLING STAR, which was following, shifted out to a three wide position to avoid that horse. At the 1300 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR and VISIONNAIRE were crowded for room inside SPARKLING STAR which momentarily shifted in. An inquiry into the reason for SIAMERIC TE SPECSO, SPEEDING MOLLY, VISIONNAIRE and FORTUNE WARRIOR being checked near the 1100 Metres was adjourned to a date to be fixed. When the tempo of the race steadied approaching the 1000 Metres, VISIONNAIRE, SPARKLING STAR and REGAL THRILLS were allowed to stride forward. REGAL THRILLS then travelled wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, DANEHILL WARRIOR was crowded for room inside SPARKLING STAR. Near the 250 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of SPEEDING MOLLY which shifted in. When questioned regarding his riding around the Home Turn and in the Home Straight, Apprentice H W Lai (MY BROTHER) said he had been instructed not to come to the outside but rather to look for runs towards the inside. He said approaching the Home Turn he did consider shifting to the outside of SIAMERIC TE SPECSO to improve his position, however, as this would have been contrary to his riding instructions and in addition NOBLE SILENCE was improving quickly towards his outside, he elected to remain racing behind SIAMERIC TE SPECSO. He said shortly after straightening when he was aware there was room to improve on the inside of MR COOL, he shifted MY BROTHER in and commenced to ride along hands and heels. He said after the 200 Metres he struck MY BROTHER which was inclined to lay out with the whip. He said at that time he felt a run would develop between MR COOL and REGAL THRILLS. He said shortly after this he shifted MY BROTHER to the inside of SPARKLING STAR to ensure it had clear running and he then rode MY BROTHER out vigorously hands and heels in the run to the line. Prior to the Stewards concluding this matter, they wish to interview Mr J Moore, the trainer of MY BROTHER. SIAMERIC TE SPECSO was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. MR COOL, SPEEDING MOLLY and GRAND COMMANDS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIAMERIC TE SPECSO, MR COOL, SPEEDING MOLLY and GRAND COMMANDS after the race did not show any significant findings. FREEBIRD and DANEHILL WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 8 June 2006)
SIAMERIC TE SPECSO, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SIAMERIC TE SPECSO was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a stiff and restricted action. Before being allowed to race again, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
