Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, MASCOT TREASURE stood flat-footed, then on jumping veered out sharply and refused to take part. Trainer C H Yip said as this is the second occasion on which MASCOT TREASURE had refused to participate in a race, he will now speak with the owner regarding the horse's future. Acting on this advice, the Stewards told Mr Yip they would await the outcome of that conversation before deciding what action should be taken against the horse. After the 1000 Metres, EARL GREY was carried in by PERPETUAL PLEASURE which shifted to a position behind SPRINTER. For some distance after this, EARL GREY and PERPETUAL PLEASURE raced tight. In the early part of the Straight, FORTUNE DANCER had some difficulty obtaining clear running behind ARROGANCE which was giving ground. MASCOT TREASURE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of MASCOT TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. PERPETUAL PLEASURE, SONGS OF PRAISE and SPRINTER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted HAPPY CONTENDER had lost its left front plate.
