Racing Incident Report

After being mounted in the parade, AMERICAN DEVIL became fractious and reared, dislodging its rider C Williams. After arriving at the barrier, C Soumillon (HOLY RANTO) advised the Veterinary Surgeon he was concerned with the action of the horse during the preliminary. HOLY RANTO was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. As the gates opened, A RUN OF LUCK bounded in the air and on landing became badly unbalanced. As a consequence, the horse was slow to begin. TIME TO SURF was slow to begin. FOREVER GOLD began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. From the outside barrier, SPEED WINNER raced in a forward position, but was obliged to travel wide and without cover throughout the race. At the 700 Metres, AMERICAN DEVIL was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHAMPION RANGER which shifted in slightly as it commenced to make the turn. Shortly after straightening, AMERICAN DEVIL was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed between SPEED WINNER and HOLY RANTO which shifted out to improve, then for some distance after the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEIJING DOLLAR. Throughout the Home Straight, LUCK AND FORTUNE was held up and unable to obtain clear running when racing behind HOLY RANTO and SPEED WINNER. Because of this, LUCK AND FORTUNE was not tested. SPEED WINNER, CHAMPION RANGER and PERFECT VISION were sent for sampling.
