Racing Incident Report

LIGHTMASTER left the gates awkwardly, shifted out and was unbalanced when close to the heels of DON INSIGHT. About the 300 Metres, EVERWELL FOREVER, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded by LEAD TO WIN (K C Tsang) which shifted in when not clear. K C Tsang was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care. D Whyte (GLASGOW KISS) said he had been instructed to ride the horse a little more quietly than he had done previously and today try to find some cover, endeavour to get the horse relaxed and be somewhere about midfield. He said GLASGOW KISS broke from the gates cleanly and quickly, took up a position somewhere about the middle, but was caught wide, raced with its head very low, he was not able to settle GLASGOW KISS and the horse pulled much too hard. He went on to say in the Straight GLASGOW KISS continued to race with its head down, he pulled the whip and gave the horse two or three hard hits, but it did not respond, was hanging out and continually ran away from other horses. In the circumstances he was not able to ride GLASGOW KISS out over the concluding stages as he normally would. He said in hindsight it would have been much better to allow GLASGOW KISS to run along in the early stages, but he had in mind the instructions he had been given and was endeavouring to carry them out. Mr D Hill, trainer of GLASGOW KISS, advised that the horse is clearly not happy with its racing at the moment and it is his intention to give it a rest. Accordingly no further action was taken. DIVINE FEELING was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
