Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed as DESERT STORM was difficult to load. Before racing again, DESERT STORM will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial (stalls test). ORLANDO FLYER missed the start slightly, was then checked and crowded by PRISTINE which on jumping shifted out. H K Yim (CENTURY STAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that about the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of DESERT STORM. As a consequence of this, that horse was taken in. This resulted in SUPER FORCE losing running to which it was rightfully entitled and being checked. H K Yim was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 14 June 2001 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting at Sha Tin on Sunday, 3 June 2001. When SUPER FORCE checked at about the 800 Metres, ORLANDO FLYER, which was following, was checked and RIVER DANCE was inconvenienced. For some distance rounding the turn, LUCKY LAD and BORN TO WIN raced unnecessarily tight just inside the hindquarters of CENTURY STAR (H K Yim). H K Yim was reprimanded and told he has to exercise far more care than this. About the 400 Metres, SUPER FORCE was steadied when disappointed for running between AUTHORISED and PRISTINE, both of which shifted a little ground. Near the 300 Metres, BORN TO WIN was steadied when crowded by LUCKY LAD which was taken in by CENTURY STAR.
