Racing Incident Report

Before the race, it was noted that TRY YOUR BEST had a laceration to its upper gum on the off side. TRY YOUR BEST was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the Start and it was then decided the horse was suitable to race. After being boxed, GOLDEN WARRIOR became fractious and got down. GOLDEN WARRIOR was withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice. Before being permitted to race again, GOLDEN WARRIOR will have to perform satisfactorily on at least one occasion in an official barrier trial. YAN CHAI ELITE left the gates awkwardly. SMILING UNION was slowly away. Near the winning post the first time, THE CHIEF was checked when crowded for room between WINNING TOUCH and CHAMPION RANGER which shifted in slightly from OPTIC CHIEF. Near the 1200 Metres, CHAMPION RANGER was momentarily awkward on the hindquarters of PLATINUM EXPRESS. Near the 1000 Metres, TRY YOUR BEST was steadied away from the heels of SMILING UNION which was allowed to shift to the rail when clear, near the 400 Metres made contact with CHAMPION RANGER when attempting to improve between CHAMPION RANGER and PLATINUM EXPRESS. After being disappointed for the run, TRY YOUR BEST was shifted in. APPLIED SUPREME and TRY YOUR BEST were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
