Racing Incident Report
SUPREME PARTNERS jumped very awkwardly, threw its head about, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of COQ D'OR. Because of this, Apprentice Y T Cheng momentarily lost the use of his near side stirrup iron. THE CHIEF was slowly away. About the 500 Metres, LUCKY AHEAD was steadied when momentarily awkward just inside the hindquarters of HAPPY TYCOON. In the early part of the Straight, SAINT TAK, which was hanging in, shifted ground and bumped COQ D'OR. D Whyte (SAINT TAK) said he did not ride the horse out right to the line as he normally would as he was concerned with its action. After the race, SAINT TAK was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He was unable to detect any abnormalities. Before racing again, SAINT TAK will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. The Stewards allowed Mr K C Lo, Trainer of SUPREME PARTNERS, an opportunity of explaining what appeared to be an improved performance from the horse. Mr Lo said SUPREME PARTNERS was only having its second run for him. When the horse joined his stable, he did not think it was doing well. Since being with him, he had been able to encourage the horse to do better, as a consequence he was able to give it more work. He said the horse was improving in its work and whilst he did say to the owners tonight the horse would run better, he was surprised it was able to win as it did. He went on to say at its last run the horse was ridden by claiming Apprentice K C Tsang, he did seek his services for the ride tonight, but as he was committed to another runner, he engaged Apprentice Y T Cheng. The explanations submitted by Mr Lo were accepted.
