Racing Incident Report
On jumping, ROCKET WIN was bumped by LUCKY STALLION which had been restless in the stalls and shifted out abruptly on jumping. Shortly after this, ROCKET WIN was checked and RICH FOR ALL crowded for room between LUCKY STALLION which shifted out further after contact had been made on its hindquarters and OH GREAT which shifted in. In this incident, LUCKY STALLION became unbalanced behind. No action was taken. Approaching the wining post on the first occasion, LUCKY STALLION, which was racing tight inside RICH FOR ALL, was steadied away from the heels of ALWAYS ZIETEN. OH GREAT, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL. At the 1100 Metres, ALWAYS ZIETEN was steadied away from the heels of ALL FIT which shifted in when barely clear. Shortly after straightening, RICH FOR ALL was bumped by AWARD which was shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, AWARD was steadied and shifted to the outside of ISLAND SPIRIT to continue going forward. Then over the concluding stages, AWARD hung in. Inside the final 50 Metres, ALWAYS ZIETEN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ALL FIT. For the major part of the race, ISLAND SPIRIT raced wide and without cover. B Prebble (LUCKY STALLION) explained the horse was tonight fractious in the barriers as it had previously been. He said the intention had been to ride LUCKY STALLION in a forward position, however, after beginning badly LUCKY STALLION raced further back than anticipated. He said at no stage of tonight's race did LUCKY STALLION travel as he thought it should and in his opinion appeared to lack interest. D Whyte (LEADER) said in the early stages he had to do some work to cross from the outside barrier and race outside ASSET PLAY. He said however from about the 1200 Metres LEADER relaxed and travelled comfortably underneath him, then in the Straight failed to respond to his riding and gave ground. He said he was unable to explain the horse's poor performance. LUCKY STALLION, LEADER and OH GREAT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY STALLION, LEADER and OH GREAT after the race did not show any significant findings. LIVERBIRD and ROCKET WIN were sent for sampling.
