Racing Incident Report
Just after the start, STRONGHEART was steadied when crowded between SINCERE AND FAITH and BOBO DUCK. Near the 300 Metres, SINCERE AND FAITH was steadied when disappointed for running between BANK ON IT and BLAZING BOB. After this, SINCERE AND FAITH was shifted out to try and improve between BLAZING BOB and BOBO DUCK, was again disappointed and was shifted to the outside of BOBO DUCK. The horse was not properly tested out in the Straight. Also near the 300 Metres, STRONGHEART was steadied and shifted out to avoid the hindquarters of BOBO DUCK. About the 200 Metres, BOBO DUCK shifted out away from BLAZING BOB across the heels of MASTERPIECE which shifted in. When asked about the disappointing performance of SEASONS GLORY, A Marcus said he had been riding the horse in quite a bit of its work since its last run, the work the horse had been doing was good and the horse was expected to run well today. He said in the paddock parade and on the way to the track SEASONS GLORY settled reasonably, however, when the horse went onto the track it got its head up and took charge for in excess of 100 Metres on the way to the Start. During this time the saddle on SEASONS GLORY shifted forward and the horse had to be re-saddled before being boxed. A Marcus said SEASONS GLORY jumped well, but in the first section of the race was almost beyond his control, raced with its head up and the horse would not settle. He went on to say as far as he was concerned it was not surprising that the horse weakened over the concluding stages when consideration was given to the manner in which the horse travelled early. Mr D Hill, Trainer of SEASONS GLORY, confirmed that the horse had been working well. He also said he had instructed A Marcus to try and settle SEASONS GLORY in today's race. He said he had sought the services of an Outrider to take SEASONS GLORY to the Start, but one was not available. Mr Hill said it is his intention in the immediate future to work SEASONS GLORY with a pony in the morning and he will endeavour to ensure next time the horse races it is accompanied by an Outrider to the Start. He said he intends to ease up with SEASONS GLORY, alter the training of the horse somewhat and hopefully the horse will settle better when next presented to race. In all the circumstances, the Stewards considered the performance of SEASONS GLORY to be unacceptable bearing in mind its previous run and therefore decided before SEASONS GLORY can race gain, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. SEASONS GLORY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
