Racing Incident Report

After being presented for the parade, it was noted the elastic bandage fitted to the off side hind fetlock joint of WE KNOW WHEN had loosened and slipped. This was removed from the horse before it proceeded to the Start. MR BRINKER was slowly away. NANNING TREASURE left the gates badly with its head up. After the 200 Metres, NANNING TREASURE was checked when disappointed for running between MR BRINKER which shifted in and SOUND GALLOP which was taken out by WE KNOW WHEN. Because of the circumstances, no action was taken. Also after the 200 Metres, SOUND GALLOP, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded between WE KNOW WHEN and MR BRINKER. J Egan (DE INTEGRO) said in the Straight he had ridden the horse hard and for a long time with the whip until close to the finish. He believed the horse did not stay 1800 Metres and just before the post he put the whip down, but continued to ride the horse hands and heels as he believed the horse had given its all. S King (WINNING TOUCH) said he had been asked to ride the horse in a forward position and if possible find cover. He said before the race the Trainer had told him it was expected WINNING TOUCH would run well and whilst he was able to travel in a forward position, he was not able to find cover, over the concluding stages the horse weakened and in his opinion was disappointing. E Saint-Martin (PO ON POWER) explained he had been engaged to ride the horse late. Today he had been asked from a good gate to either lead or ride the horse right on the pace. He said as he could not find the leader, he travelled in front, then in the Straight PO ON POWER weakened and he was unable to put forward any reason for this. PO ON POWER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
