Background: Pierre Ng entered The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s system in 2007 as a work rider for his father, Peter Ng, before he was promoted to assistant trainer for Paul O’Sullivan in 2013. Under O’Sullivan, Ng travelled with Aerovelocity overseas to Japan and Singapore in 2015 for consecutive Group 1 wins in the Takamatsunomiya Kinen and KrisFlyer International Sprint. Since then, Ng fulfilled the same duties with John Size and Francis Lui. While with Lui, Ng assisted in the conditioning of the exceptional Golden Sixty, while prior to 2007, Ng gained experience in Australia working for David Payne, David Hayes, Chris Waller and Mick Price. Ng also undertook placements in Japan and the United States of America. Ng has worked in yearling preparation in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Japan. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Safety Science and Japanese Studies from the University of New South Wales. Having quickly garnered a strong reputation as an impressive horseman, Ng opened his Hong Kong account with Super Commander, his first runner at Happy Valley before closing out his debut term with 41 wins, ranked 10th in that season’s championship. Ng’s second season saw him ascend even further with 69 wins, although after leading the standings since November, 2023, his former boss Lui defeated him by one (70-69) in the final race of the term. Ng saddled his 100th Hong Kong winner in 2024. |
