5 VIVA GUY (CK318) T H So B- Enjoyed all the favors settling 3 back the fence. Speared through along the inside to take the lead near the furlong and maintained a good gallop right to the wire.
1 SPANDAU BALLET (CL345) C Y Ho -- Checked on jumping settling worse than midfield, 2 deep with cover. Peeled out to race 3 deep with cover after the 600m, left a bit flatfooted approaching the home turn. Responded well to pressure closing off nicely.
12 ZEPHYRUS (CH285) J Lloyd V/TT Midfield on the fence, not suited by the slow pace, lacked room 200M, dashed well for 3rd.
2 LEO'S PRIDE (CK094) B Prebble B Camped midfield, 2 wide with cover. Ranged up as some hope near the furlong, before peaking on its run 100m out. Stayed on to make the frame.
3 BAITIWU (CL205) D Beadman B/TT Led along the paint setting slow early fractions. Dictated terms nicely but couldn't capitalize and weakened inside the last 100m.
8 BRILLIANT CHARIOT (CL242) W M Lai B Slotted in 1 out 1 back by the time the field had settled after the 1200m. Rounded the home bend about 5 deep and finished off evenly after being disappointed for running near the 150m.
6 BESPOKE MASTER (CL227) D Whyte TT Had every possible chance after sitting outside the leader. Was running on empty over the final stages, no excuses.
11 SUISSE D'OR (CL195) T Clark B/H Travelled in last position along the fence. Only plodded to the line.
4 BULLISH POWER (M330) G Mosse TT Settled with the backmakers along the paint after being checked at the start. Found little when asked for an effort in the home straight.
9 GREAT SHOW (CK001) Y T Cheng B Camped midfield, got cover after the 1200m, and settled 3 deep. Failed to make any appreciable ground in the final stretch.
10 NICKU (CK389) M L Yeung TT Taken back from a wide barrier and settled at the rear, 1 of with cover. Peeled out and attempted to roll forward after the 600m. Found little and struggled in the run home.
7 CHINA DRAGON (CL104) K C Leung V/TT Raced prominently but was posted 3 wide without cover for most of the trip. Never likely weakening noticeably over the concluding stages. (See Racing Incident report).
