1 3 JOY OF SPRING (H383) Bumped at the start. For some distance after the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of FOREVER GLORIOUS and in this incident made contact with SPECIAL HEDGE. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 12 ME TIME (J074) At declaration time, H Bentley was declared as the rider of both SERANGOON and ME TIME. It was established that H Bentley had a firm commitment to ride SERANGOON. As such, the Stewards permitted A Badel to be substituted as the rider of ME TIME. For this declaration error, Trainer D J Whyte was fined $2,000. Jumped only fairly. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 5 FOREVER GLORIOUS (G229) No report.
4 6 PRECISE EXPRESS (D198) No report.
5 2 SERANGOON (H296) No report.
6 7 PEGASUS GENERAL (G189) Noted to have lost its right front plate after the race.
7 11 SPECIAL HEDGE (H354) Approaching the 250 Metres was bumped by JOY OF SPRING. After the race, L Hewitson could offer no excuse for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
8 4 SATIRICAL GLORY (H073) After the race, H Bowman reported that his mount raced too keenly in the lead and as a consequence ran inside the standard time throughout the early and middle stages despite his efforts to restrain his mount. He added as a result SATIRICAL GLORY was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 8 SUPER HONG KONG (D241) Bumped at the start.
10 10 PALACE PAL (G172) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
11 1 INTREPID WINNER (G144) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the race, K De Melo reported that he had some concerns with his mount’s action in front throughout the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, INTREPID WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 9 LEGION OF MERIT (D419) Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After the race, B Thompson stated that he was obliged to make some use of his mount from the 700 Metres when taken wider by SPECIAL HEDGE and as a result LEGION OF MERIT did not run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of LEGION OF MERIT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LEGION OF MERIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
