Racing Incident Report
Pla. | Horse No. | Horse | Incident |
| 9 | YOUNG SUPERSTAR (J400) | Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 6 | PRAWNS ELEVEN (J140) | Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded by STELLAR EXPRESS which shifted in abruptly. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind STELLAR EXPRESS. When questioned regarding his riding and the reason he did not shift to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS in the early part of the Home Straight sooner, H Bentley stated that when following STELLAR EXPRESS, he was of the opinion that runner was travelling very well as Jockey H Bowman had not asked his mount for an effort. He said when H Bowman commenced to ride STELLAR EXPRESS along and the horse did not quicken as he had anticipated, he then shifted to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS approaching the 300 Metres to obtain clear running. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bentley, having regard to his explanation, were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 4 | STELLAR EXPRESS (J186) | Shifted in abruptly at the start and was bumped on the hindquarters. Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 1 | HASTEN DELIGHT (J229) | No report. |
| 10 | THRIVING BROTHERS (J396) | In the early stages raced keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid HASTEN DELIGHT which was eased by its rider C Y Ho when racing to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS. Held up for clear running after the 200 Metres behind STELLAR EXPRESS and near the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between HASTEN DELIGHT and STELLAR EXPRESS which shifted out slightly. Was then shifted to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS where it obtained clear running approaching the 50 Metres. |
| 2 | JAMES TAK (J007) | After the race, C L Chau reported that his instructions were to hold a forward position, but JAMES TAK bounded on jumping and lost some ground. He said as a result he was obliged to settle in a midfield position, but JAMES TAK raced keenly in the early and middle stages and as a consequence was unable to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. |
| 5 | GREAT STATE (J124) | Over the concluding stages was crowded by THRIVING BROTHERS (L Hewitson) which shifted in and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event. L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care. |
| 3 | ASTROLOGER (G102) | No report. |
| 8 | KING GLORIOSO (J247) | No report. |
| 11 | BULB EMPEROR (J241) | Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. |
| 7 | ACE VICTORY (H076) | Shortly after the start was bumped. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. |
