Racing Incident Report
RIGHTEOUS ARION, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin.
YOUNG HORIZON shifted out at the start and brushed BEAUTY MISSION.
ACT OF FAITH shifted out on jumping and bumped HERCULES. After this, HERCULES was shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier.
SUPER JOY was steadied in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the rail.
After the 1000 Metres, JUNE PLANET momentarily raced tight inside COMMANDING MISSILE which itself was racing tight inside ACT OF FAITH.
After the 900 Metres, M M NEBULA was left racing wide and without cover.
After the 500 Metres, BEAUTY MISSION was very awkwardly placed behind PLENTY PLENTY which came under pressure and commenced to give ground. Then passing the 450 Metres, BEAUTY MISSION shifted out to avoid the heels of PLENTY PLENTY, causing COMMANDING MISSILE to race tight between BEAUTY MISSION and M M NEBULA.
Passing the 450 Metres, HERCULES was shifted out away from the heels of M M NEBULA.
JUNE PLANET was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and approaching the 100 Metres shifted out towards the hindquarters of BEAUTY MISSION, resulting in its rider having to correct JUNE PLANET and shift in away from BEAUTY MISSION.
Following the race, Z Purton reported that, in his opinion, ACT OF FAITH was disappointing in tonight’s race. He said he had to ride ACT OF FAITH along in the early stages to obtain as forward a position as possible from the wide barrier. He said he was able to shift across to race behind the eventual winner KING ECCELLENTE making the first turn near the 1000 Metres and after this travelled satisfactorily. He said however that after coming under pressure rounding the Home Turn ACT OF FAITH did not quicken as he anticipated and finished the race off only fairly. A veterinary inspection of ACT OF FAITH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on GLORY BO BO at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GLORY BO BO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, BEAUTY MISSION was noted to have sustained a minor abrasion to the right front heel.
A veterinary inspection of PLENTY PLENTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEAUTY MISSION, KING ECCELLENTE and RIGHTEOUS ARION were sent for sampling.
