Racing Incident Report
WINE AND WINE, which bumped a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.
SUPER FORTUNE shifted out at the start and brushed WINE AND WINE.
SINGAPORE SUNSHINE began awkwardly.
SMART IDEA and DINKUM bumped on jumping.
NICCONI COUNTY began awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From the outside barrier, SATIRICAL GLORY was steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners.
SINGAPORE SUNSHINE got its head up when awkwardly placed behind BEAUTY ETERNAL approaching the 900 Metres and then shifted out abruptly away from the heels of BEAUTY ETERNAL of its own accord, resulting in SINGAPORE SUNSHINE shifting out and bumping SMART IDEA which was crowded for room inside DINKUM. SINGAPORE SUNSHINE then continued to hang out across the heels of SMART IDEA, resulting in SINGAPORE SUNSHINE losing a considerable amount of ground. NICCONI COUNTY, which was following SINGAPORE SUNSHINE, was hampered after having to be shifted out away from the heels of that horse. The racing manners of SINGAPORE SUNSHINE were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SINGAPORE SUNSHINE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend.
SATIRICAL GLORY got its head on the side and made the turn at the 900 Metres awkwardly. Then at the 400 Metres, SATIRICAL GLORY was shifted out away from the heels of DINKUM.
Throughout the race, DINKUM travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, Z Purton (BEAUTY ETERNAL) stated that after following CHARMANDER throughout the middle stages, his mount was travelling strongly after the 500 Metres. He said CHARMANDER shifted out marginally near the 450 Metres which indicated to him that it may continue to shift out and therefore he commenced to position BEAUTY ETERNAL to improve to that horse’s inside if the run eventuated. He said when he did this BEAUTY ETERNAL quickened and he found himself improving inside the heels of CHARMANDER where there was not a full run. He said as he was improving to the inside of the heels of CHARMANDER, that horse rolled back in marginally which resulted in BEAUTY ETERNAL being checked and stumbling as a result of striking the heels of CHARMANDER. As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no carelessness exhibited by the rider of CHARMANDER in the incident, no further action was taken. Z Purton stated that after this BEAUTY ETERNAL then continued to finish the race off strongly. He said after the 300 Metres he improved inside WINE AND WINE with SUPER WINNER and SUPER FORTUNE racing in advance of BEAUTY ETERNAL and he was concerned that those horses would not finish the race off over the concluding stages He therefore elected passing the 200 Metres to commence to shift out in the hope of securing running to the outside of SUPER WINNER. He said he was still a number of lengths behind SUPER FORTUNE and SUPER WINNER when he made this decision, but due to the manner in which BEAUTY ETERNAL was finishing the race off strongly he did not want BEAUTY ETERNAL to improve behind those horses and then having to be severely checked as a result of not being able to obtain clear running. He added that after shifting to the outside of SUPER WINNER after the 150 Metres, he was hopeful of securing running between SCIENCE PATCH and GOOD BUDDY. He said as he was positioning BEAUTY ETERNAL to the outside of SCIENCE PATCH in the hope of a run developing between those horses, SCIENCE PATCH shifted out marginally in advance of BEAUTY ETERNAL which resulted in BEAUTY ETERNAL being badly held up for clear running from approaching the 100 Metres until close to the finishing line. He said because of these circumstances BEAUTY ETERNAL was not able to be ridden out over the latter stages of the race.
BEAUTY ETERNAL, SCIENCE PATCH and GOOD BUDDY were sent for sampling.
