Racing Incident Report
BIG BIG WIN was slow to begin.
SMART IDEA shifted out at the start and bumped GREAT KING. After this, both SMART IDEA and GREAT KING were steadied to obtain cover.
A short distance after the start, RED BRICK GLORY raced in restricted room between TURBO POWER and TORONADO PHANTOM.
Approaching the 900 Metres, TURBO POWER was steadied away from the heels of TORONADO PHANTOM (B Shinn) which got its head on the side and lay in away from MIRACLE VICTORY. Whilst the Stewards accepted that TORONADO PHANTOM was inclined to lay in, nonetheless B Shinn was advised to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Passing the 700 Metres, SHINING RED was awkwardly placed behind TORONADO PHANTOM. RED BRICK GLORY, which was following SHINING RED, improved to be racing close to the heels of that horse and got its head on the side and shifted out from behind SHINING RED which resulted in SMART IDEA being crowded for room inside GREAT KING which was bumped and taken wider by SMART IDEA.
Passing the 300 Metres, MIRACLE VICTORY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TORONADO PHANTOM which shifted out.
Passing the 250 Metres, TURBO POWER was directed out away from the heels of TORONADO PHANTOM which continued to lay out under pressure.
Over the last 200 Metres, CALIFORNIA SPANGLE raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions.
The performance of BIG BIG WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BIG BIG WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of BIG BIG WIN and MIRACLE VICTORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CALIFORNIA SPANGLE and TORONADO PHANTOM were sent for sampling.
