Racing Incident Report
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, RISE HIGH raced tight between FURORE and EDISA which shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GLORIOUS FOREVER.
M Matsuoka (WIN BRIGHT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of DARK DREAM, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. M Matsuoka was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 18 December 2019 and to expire on Monday, 30 December 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). M Matsuoka also pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in under pressure when not clear of MAGIC WAND, resulting in that horse being taken in onto GLORIOUS FOREVER, causing that horse to be hampered and taken in across DARK DREAM which was also hampered and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. M Matsuoka was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 18 December 2019 and to expire on Monday, 30 December 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The Stewards ruled that the terms of suspension be served concurrently.
Approaching the 1700 Metres, EDISA, which was racing in a three wide position, was steadied to obtain cover. DARK DREAM, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, WIN BRIGHT was taken wider by GLORIOUS FOREVER which shifted out from behind TIME WARP. WIN BRIGHT was then steadied to obtain cover behind GLORIOUS FOREVER.
At the entrance to the Straight, FURORE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WIN BRIGHT.
Near the 300 Metres, FURORE was steadied when disappointed for running between WIN BRIGHT and MAGIC WAND (R Moore) which shifted out. R Moore was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he exercises due care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After this MAGIC WAND was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GLORIOUS FOREVER which shifted out. FURORE was then shifted to the outside of WIN BRIGHT to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 250 Metres, the whip of C Y Ho (RISE HIGH) momentarily became caught behind the leg of M Matsuoka (WIN BRIGHT).
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WIN BRIGHT had sustained a laceration above the left hock.
FURORE, WIN BRIGHT and MAGIC WAND were sent for sampling.
