Racing Incident Report
EVER STRONG and BREEZE OF SPRING bumped at the start.
When being steadied to be shifted across behind runners shortly after the start, NO REGRETS AT ALL shifted out and bumped WHO’S HORSE.
FANTASTIC BOY began only fairy.
Near the 1150 Metres, AMAZING PARADISE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FRESH POWER due to both horses shifting ground.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, BREEZE OF SPRING momentarily raced tight inside FANTASTIC BOY which was then directed out to relieve the tightening to BREEZE OF SPRING. BREEZE OF SPRING then got its head on the side and shifted out of its own accord towards the heels of FANTASTIC BOY, resulting in BREEZE OF SPRING being awkwardly placed passing the 1100 Metres.
Also approaching the 1100 Metres, TRIPLE TRIPLE and FRESH POWER bumped.
GLITTERING ARMOUR was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
W L Ho (TRIPLE TRIPLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 950 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavours to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of FRESH POWER, resulting in that horse having to be checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. W L Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 20 November 2019 and to expire on Monday, 2 December 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays).
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, TRIPLE TRIPLE was bumped by BOND ELEGANCE which shifted in away from MAJESTIC CONQUEROR. TRIPLE TRIPLE then shifted in, resulting in ON EXCEL STAR being inconvenienced.
Near the 650 Metres, ON EXCEL STAR shifted out away from the heels of TRIPLE TRIPLE and bumped the hindquarters of FRESH POWER which became unbalanced. EVER STRONG, which was following ON EXCEL STAR, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence, resulting in BREEZE OF SPRING also being inconvenienced. When ON EXCEL STAR shifted out, it bumped the hindquarters of FRESH POWER. FANTASTIC BOY, which was following FRESH POWER, was inconvenienced in consequence. AMAZING PARADISE, which was following FANTASTIC BOY, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse before being shifted to the outside of that runner.
In the early part of the Straight. FANTASTIC BOY got its head on the side and lay out.
Approaching the 300 Metres, TRIPLE TRIPLE attempted to improve into tight running inside MAJESTIC CONQUEROR (J Moreira) which shifted in marginally, resulting in TRIPLE TRIPLE being checked passing the 300 Metres. As the Stewards could not be satisfied that TRIPE TRIPLE had fully established running to the inside of MAJESTIC CONQUEROR, no further action was taken other than to advise J Moreira to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Passing the 300 Metres, EVER STRONG was shifted to the outside of BOND ELEGANCE. EVER STRONG was then momentarily awkwardly placed behind BOND ELEGANCE and ON EXCEL STAR passing the 200 Metres.
J Moreira (MAJESTIC CONQUEROR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of TRIPLE TRIPLE, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 20 November 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 24 November 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Moreira’s good race riding record.
After the race, C Y Ho reported that GLITTERING ARMOUR settled back in the field which was consistent with the horse’s normal racing pattern, however, was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of GLITTERING ARMOUR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GLITTERING AMOUR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of MAJESTIC CONQUEROR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MAJESTIC CONQUEROR, FRESH POWER and BREEZE OF SPRING were sent for sampling.
<6/11/2019 3 November 2019 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 3 (143)>The Stewards tonight questioned J Moreira, the rider of MAJESTIC CONQUEROR, regarding the disappointing performance of that horse. J Moreira stated that he had to make some use of the horse in the early stages to clear runners to his inside and it was not until approaching the 700 Metres that he was able to shift MAJESTIC CONQUEROR across to race on the rail in the lead. He said during this time MAJESTIC CONQUEROR made a number of abnormal breathing noises. He said after reaching the lead he attempted to steady the tempo on MAJESTIC CONQUEROR given that he had had to do some work in the early stages. He added MAJESTIC CONQUEROR continued to make a number of abnormal breathing noises and then came under pressure after the 400 Metres. He said FRESH POWER was able to improve forward of MAJESTIC CONQUEROR passing the 300 Metres after which MAJESTIC CONQUEROR came under heavy pressure and, despite being ridden out, gave ground noticeably over the concluding stages. The performance of MAJESTIC CONQUEROR, favourite for this race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC CONQUEROR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
