Racing Incident Report
CLASSIC BEAUTY began only fairly and then was bumped on jumping by PIKACHU which shifted out, resulting in CLASSIC BEAUTY losing ground.
HELENE LEADINGSTAR lost its right front plate shortly after the start.
After the 900 Metres, MONGOLIAN KING raced wide and without cover.
Approaching the 300 Metres, GRAND CHANCELLOR was momentarily crowded for room between MONGOLIAN KING which shifted in marginally and SAVVY SIX which, after initially being directed out by PIKACHU, then shifted out further.
Throughout the race, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY raced with its head on the side and lay out.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NICCONI EXPRESS, J Moreira stated that after enjoying a good run behind the speed during which NICCONI EXPRESS travelled well, the horse immediately came off the bridle before the 600 Metres, but then commenced to travel more strongly after that when ridden along. He said he shifted his mount rounding the Home Turn to the outside of HELENE LEADINGSTAR and after quickening well then came under pressure after the 300 Metres. He said NICCONI EXPRESS was then disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. He added he could detect no fault in NICCONI EXPRESS’ action and the only explanation that might explain its disappointing performance was the fact that the horse was stepping up to the 1800 Metres for the first time today on a track that was firmer than those which it had raced on when ridden by him. A veterinary inspection of NICCONI EXPRESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GRAND CHANCELLOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NICCONI EXPRESS, HO HO KHAN and HELENE LEADINGSTAR were sent for sampling.
