Racing Incident Report
DINOZZO shifted out at the start and bumped DANBURITE which was taken out and inconvenienced ALAIN.
From the outside barrier, GOLD MOUNT was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 1700 Metres, PAKISTAN STAR (W Buick) shifted out marginally after being crossed by DANBURITE. EAGLE WAY, which was following PAKISTAN STAR, was then checked away from the heels of that horse passing the 1700 Metres which shifted back in. As the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that EAGLE WAY had properly established running to the inside of PAKISTAN STAR and that that horse had shifted out sufficiently to allow full running for a horse to improve to its inside, W Buick was severely reprimanded and advised that he must be alert to his mounts shifting ground so as not to case interference to other runners.
Passing the 1600 Metres, EAGLE WAY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of PAKISTAN STAR.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that TIME WARP was not as worked up prior to the race or in the barriers as it generally is. He said although the race was run at a fast tempo, he believed the manner in which TIME WARP weakened in the Straight may indicate that its success on 25 February 2018 when also running a very fast time may have taken more out of the horse than thought as its subsequent two races including today had both been below standard. A veterinary inspection of TIME WARP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of TIME WARP, a favourite for today’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TIME WARP will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
TIME WARP, PAKISTAN STAR and GOLD MOUNT were sent for sampling.
