Racing Incident Report
SUPER CHIC began only fairly.
LOTUS STRIKES BACK was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1500 Metres, RULE THEE got its head up when momentarily steadied away from the heels of MCQUEEN (N Callan) which shifted in. N Callan was advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
After the 1000 Metres, TEN FLAMES and ACCLAIMED LIGHT raced tight as ACCLAIMED LIGHT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TAI SMART when travelling keenly.
BRING IT ON had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres.
GRAND CHANCELLOR was held up for clear running from near the 300 Metres until passing the 150 Metres.
Passing the 100 Metres, BRING IT ON was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TAI SMART (A Badel) which shifted in under pressure. A Badel was advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
BRING IT ON lost its left front plate when being pulled up after the race.
When questioned, N Callan stated that MCQUEEN travelled strongly in the early and middle stages and then after being shifted to the outside of SUPER CHIC rounding the Home Turn initially quickened well. He said however that at the 300 Metres MCQUEEN came under heavy pressure and then despite being fully tested was most disappointing in the manner in which it weakened out of the race. He said because of the manner in which MCQUEEN failed to respond to his riding, he eased the horse down over the concluding stages in the event there was something amiss with it. He added however that MCQUEEN trotted back soundly to the unplaced runners’ area and he was not able to offer any reason for the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of MCQUEEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BRING IT ON, RULE THEE and ACCLAIMED LIGHT were sent for sampling.
