Racing Incident Report

On jumping, EASY HEDGE made heavy contact with the outside of its stall and got its head up on a number of occasions, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, EASY HEDGE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
JADE FORTUNE shifted in at the start and bumped JOLLY GENE.
TAI SMART was inconvenienced on jumping by FAITHFUL TRINITY which shifted in after being bumped by GRAND CHANCELLOR.
ACCLAIMED LIGHT and MAMBO ROCK were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 1500 Metres, TAI SMART shifted out, resulting in BRING IT ON being taken out onto ACCLAIMED LIGHT which was hampered.
Near the 850 Metres, CIRCUIT HASSLER got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRAND CHANCELLOR.
Near the 650 Metres, LITTLE ISLAND was taken wider when brushed on the hindquarters by GRAND CHANCELLOR which shifted to the outside of GREEN DISPATCH.
Rounding the Home Turn, JOLLY GENE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FAITHFUL TRINITY which came under pressure.
Passing the 300 Metres, RAZOR QUEST was steadied when disappointed for running between GORGEOUS AGAIN and LITTLE ISLAND which was giving ground.
Also passing the 300 Metres, JADE FORTUNE and GRAND CHANCELLOR bumped, causing both horses to become unbalanced. A short distance after this, GRAND CHANCELLOR was momentarily steadied away from the heels of CIRCUIT HASSLER which shifted in.
Throughout the race, LITTLE ISLAND travelled wide and without cover.
Mr D J Hall, the trainer of FAITHFUL TRINITY, informed the Stewards that he asked Apprentice M F Poon to ride the horse in a forward position as it had disappointed in its races to date when ridden from back in the field.
When questioned, T Berry stated that the tempo of the race slackened appreciably after the 800 Metres which resulted in GRAND CHANCELLOR being awkwardly placed behind GREEN DISPATCH. He said he therefore elected to shift to the outside and commenced to make his run rather than remaining racing behind GREEN DISPATCH in a slowly run race. He said GRAND CHANCELLOR initially quickened well rounding the Home Turn, however, at the 300 Metres came under pressure and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off the race. A veterinary inspection of GRAND CHANCELLOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GREEN DISPATCH, Z Purton stated that although he had to make some use of the horse in the early stages to obtain a forward position, he was content with how it travelled in the middle stages. He said he placed GREEN DISPATCH under pressure rounding the Home Turn and the horse initially quickened, however, came under pressure near the 250 Metres and after this weakened out of the race. He added when GREEN DISPATCH commenced to weaken, the horse changed stride and appeared reluctant to stretch out fully. A veterinary inspection of GREEN DISPATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GREEN DISPATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

CIRCUIT HASSLER, BRING IT ON and TAI SMART were sent for sampling.
