Racing Incident Report
GOLDEN SLEEP was withdrawn on 20.6.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (injury to left front foot) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter THE JOY OF GIVING (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN SLEEP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
THE JOY OF GIVING and FANTASTIC KAKA were slow to begin and then on jumping THE JOY OF GIVING was bumped by FANTASTIC KAKA which was taken in by SUPER SPRINTER which shifted in.
GAMECHANGERS shifted out at the start and bumped STAR MAJESTIC.
From a wide barrier, SUPER MAN was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
For some distance approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, KIRAM travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BULLISH SMART.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FANTASTIC KAKA shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of KIRAM. KIRAM then became unbalanced and lay in, resulting in FANTASTIC KAKA being crowded for room..
Near the 250 Metres, SPICY SURE raced tight inside SKYROCKETS which shifted in. After this, SPICY SURE and SKYROCKETS continued to race tight for a short distance.
Passing the 250 Metres, GAMECHANGERS was shifted out away from the heels of LAND GRANT which shifted in.
Also passing the 250 Metres, SUPER SPRINTER was awkwardly placed outside SKYROCKETS.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of Apprentice M F Poon (SUPER SPRINTER), 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, nonetheless he will be advised to ensure that he rides his mounts out all the way to the end of the race where circumstances permit.
A veterinary inspection of SKYROCKETS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUPER SPRINTER was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER SPRINTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
STAR MAJESTIC, KIRAM and BULLISH SMART were sent for sampling.
