Racing Incident Report
ROCKET LET WIN began only fairly.
GOOD MATE and ROBUST MOMENTUM were checked on jumping when crowded for room between SHINING CHAMPION and POWER DRAGON which shifted out abruptly. After this, SHINING CHAMPION along with WILD BOY were shifted across behind runners from wide barriers.
THE CHAMP began awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted out towards the heels of RICHCITY FORTUNE.
Passing the 1100 Metres, TRIUMPHANT LIGHT got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover. THE CHAMP, which was racing inside TRIUMPHANT LIGHT and behind RICHCITY FORTUNE, also commenced to prove very difficult to settle and after the 1050 Metres got its head on the side, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT which became unbalanced. THE CHAMP then lay out and for some distance after the 1000 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIGHT SEEING, resulting in THE CHAMP losing ground near the 950 Metres. SPEEDY ACHIEVER, which was following THE CHAMP, was inconvenienced in consequence.
For some distance after the 1000 Metres, GLENEALY PRIZE and ROBUST MOMENTUM raced tight.
Approaching the 800 Metres, GLENEALY PRIZE was awkwardly placed outside ROBUST MOMENTUM and close to the heels of POWER DRAGON which travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.
Approaching the 100 Metres, ROCKET LET WIN was shifted in away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT.
When questioned regarding the performance of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT, D Whyte stated that the horse, which was wearing blinkers for the first time tonight, commenced to over-race making the first turn, primarily as a result of THE CHAMP shifting out to his inside. He said he was satisfied with the manner in which TRIUMPHANT LIGHT relaxed after entering the Back Straight and he was able to follow the eventual winner SIGHT SEEING throughout the race. He added rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight SIGHT SEEING quickened, however, TRIUMPHANT LIGHT was not able to sprint with that horse and then, despite being placed under heavy pressure in the Straight, was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened, particularly over the final 100 Metres. A veterinary inspection of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
