Racing Incident Report
UNIQUE AWESOME began awkwardly.
HAPPY WAY WINNER began only fairly.
PEARL WIN shifted out at the start, resulting in DASHING SUPER and FAIRY TWINS being hampered.
Shortly after the start, AMBITIOUS HEART was steadied to obtain a position with cover.
From the outside barriers, CLEVER SPIRIT, GORGEOUS AGAIN and VICTOR EMPEROR were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, AMBITIOUS HEART got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle.
Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, UNIQUE AWESOME was eased away from the heels of UNIQUE JOYFUL which shifted in.
Near the 350 Metres, AMBITIOUS HEART was shifted away from the heels of DASHING SUPER to obtain clear running.
When questioned, Mr R Gibson, the trainer of PLANET GIANT, stated that he had instructed M L Yeung to ride PLANET GIANT more patiently today than is usual due to the horse having drawn barrier 8 and being first up. He said he felt that were PLANET GIANT to be ridden along to obtain a forward position, the horse would then not be able to finish off its race. He said he had hoped that PLANET GIANT would be able to obtain cover, however, the circumstances of the race resulted in PLANET GIANT being left racing in a midfield position without cover. Mr Gibson was advised of the requirement to ensure that horses are ridden in such a manner so that they can finish off their race the best they are able, irrespective of whether they are first up or otherwise.
A veterinary inspection of CLEVER SPIRIT and PLANET GIANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FAIRY TWINS and RUMINARE were sent for sampling.
