Racing Incident Report

On jumping, FUNNY FORTUNE and HEAR THE ROAR were crowded for room inside STARTING OVER when taken out by TOWERING STORM which shifted ground. In this incident, STARTING OVER became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by FUNNY FORTUNE.
From wide barriers, WINNAM, CHINA DELIGHT, XILAI XIANZI and ACTIVISM were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Passing the 1500 Metres, HAPPY CENTENARY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of WIN ALONG (J Moreira) which shifted in when not quite clear. J Moreira was warned against the practice of shifting ground when not properly clear.
After the 1400 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR got its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FUNNY FORTUNE. TOWERING STORM, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR and STARTING OVER raced tight.
After the 1000 Metres, STARTING OVER was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 550 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR and STARTING OVER both became unbalanced after making contact due to HEAR THE ROAR shifting out.
FUNNY FORTUNE, TOWERING STORM and CHINA DELIGHT all had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
After the 400 Metres, ACTIVISM raced tight between ON THE WAY and XILAI XIANZI when improving into tight running between those horses. In this incident, XILAI XIANZI became unbalanced after being bumped by ACTIVISM and shifted out, resulting in WINNAM being inconvenienced.
Passing the 100 Metres, CHINA DELIGHT was shifted out away from FLYING IN which shifted ground under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of ON THE WAY and WINNAM immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in both horses’ trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ON THE WAY and WINNAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary examination of WIN ALONG immediately following the race confirmed the horse to be a “roarer” which had been previously reported.
TOWERING STORM and CHINA DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
