Racing Incident Report
After being loaded, WINNING INSTINCT became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING INSTINCT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
Also after being loaded, APPROVE broke through the front gates, however, was quickly restrained after travelling a short distance, returned to the Start and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, APPROVE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
AMBITIOUS CHAMPION was slow to begin.
SPIRIT SOARING blundered at the start and shortly after the start was vigorously ridden to obtain a forward position.
From the outside barrier, SUN PINS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
SPIRIT SOARING lost its left front plate shortly after the start.
O Doleuze (AMBER DRAGON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RED DANCER, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of SPIRIT SOARING which as a result was crowded for room outside ONE OF A KIND, struck heels and blundered. O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 16 December 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 8 December 2013. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration O Doleuze’s race riding record and the fact that he had had in excess of 150 race rides this season without being charged with a breach of the careless riding rule.
After the 1100 Metres, ELEGANCE CLASSIC got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREEN MANNER.
After the 900 Metres, AMBER DRAGON was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 350 Metres, DISTILL was shifted out away from the heels of ELEGANCE CLASSIC which shifted in under pressure.
When questioned regarding his riding of RED DANCER in the Straight, G Mosse stated that his mount came under pressure to hold its position after the 600 Metres. He said in the early part of the Straight he placed RED DANCER under heavy pressure, however, the horse did not quicken as anticipated. He said near the 250 Metres VICTORY HERO shifted out to his inside and inconvenienced RED DANCER. He said after this he continued to ride the horse out whilst slapping it down the shoulder with the whip in the right hand. He added near the 100 Metres he commenced to ride the horse out more vigorously in the run to the finishing line, however, RED DANCER was well beaten at this time and closed off the race moderately. G Mosse was severely reprimanded for his riding of RED DANCER between the 250 Metres and near the 100 Metres and was placed on notice that he must test his mounts in such a manner so as to ensure his riding is not open to query. A veterinary inspection of RED DANCER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMBER DRAGON, APPROVE and VICTORY HERO were sent for sampling.
