Racing Incident Report
NOBLE FLIER was withdrawn on 30.6.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MIGHTY EQUUS. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE FLIER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUNSHINE BOY stood flat-footed as the start was effected and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. Having regard to SUNSHINE BOY’s prior history of being slow to begin, the horse will be required to undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory official barrier trials before being allowed to race again.
YOUNG HAPPY and SHAREMA FEELING were slow to begin.
Passing the 1200 Metres, SPECTACULAR AWARD got its head on the side and shifted in when awkwardly placed inside PERFECT JOY which shifted in slightly after being bumped by FLORA DANICA. This resulted in SPECTACULAR AWARD being awkwardly placed outside the heels of MONEY WIN WINS for some distance.
Near the 1100 Metres, LINKED WIN shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DRAGON CHOICE.
Passing the 200 Metres, LIVERPOOL LAD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHAREMA FEELING.
Passing the 150 Metres, IDYLLIC WIND got its head on the side and hung in under pressure.
Near the 100 Metres, LIVERPOOL LAD momentarily raced in restricted room between SHAREMA FEELING and SUNSHINE BOY.
Throughout the race, FLORA DANICA travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, D Whyte stated that SHAREMA FEELING travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages and passing the 400 Metres was following the eventual winner IDYLLIC WIND. He said he commenced to ride SHAREMA FEELING along to improve its position including using the whip on the horse, however near the 300 Metres SHAREMA FEELING made a significant abnormal respiratory noise. He said he immediately stopped riding SHAREMA FEELING before commencing to push the horse out hands and heels, however, SHAREMA FEELING continued to experience respiratory difficulties and continued to make a significant respiratory noise. He said because of this he eased the horse down over the final 200 Metres as he felt that there was something amiss with it. A veterinary inspection of SHAREMA FEELING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, SHAREMA FEELING had previously been reported to be a “roarer”. The performance of SHAREMA FEELING was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SHAREMA FEELING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON CHOICE immediately following the race revealed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LINKED WIN had lost its left front plate.
IDYLLIC WIND and MIGHTY EQUUS were sent for sampling.
<2/7/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that SUNSHINE BOY was lame in the right front leg on the morning after racing. As previously advised, SUNSHINE BOY will be required to pass a series of consecutive official barrier trials before being allowed to race again. It will now also be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
