Racing Incident Report
Just prior to the start being effected, FOREST COLOURS became fractious and as the gates were released reared, losing a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, FOREST COLOURS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
As the start was effected, MULTIEXPRESS lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began only fairly.
From an outside barrier, LORD DRAGON was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Near the 600 Metres, FORTUNE TOGETHER broke down in its left front leg and fell, resulting in its rider, Y T Cheng, being dislodged. OCEAN WIDE, which was following, was unable to avoid FORTUNE TOGETHER and stumbled badly, resulting in its rider, W M Lai, being dislodged. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that OCEAN WIDE was found to have broken down in the left front leg. GOOD HONG KONG was also unable to avoid FORTUNE TOGETHER and fell, resulting in its rider, D Whyte, being dislodged. When GOOD HONG KONG fell, LORD DRAGON was unable to avoid that horse and stumbled badly, resulting in its rider, T Angland, being dislodged. MULTIEXPRESS also stumbled badly when unable to avoid FORTUNE TOGETHER, resulting in its rider, C Y Ho, being dislodged a short distance later. All riders who were dislodged in this incident will be interviewed on a date to be fixed as Y T Cheng and C Y Ho were unable to provide evidence due to being transported to hospital. When FORTUNE TOGETHER fell, it shifted out and made contact with HIGH RETURN on a number of occasions, causing that horse to become unbalanced. CHINA ANGEL, WHAT A HEART and FOREST COLOURS were hampered. MASTER RIO and GRATIFIED were badly hampered and MAKE IT was severely checked in consequence. When being hampered, both CHINA ANGEL and WHAT A HEART were obliged to shift out wider.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FOREST COLOURS had lost its right front plate.
A veterinary inspection of GOOD HONG KONG immediately following the race found the horse to have blood at its right nostril. However, an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse’s trachea to be clean and therefore GOOD HONG KONG was not deemed to have bled. The Veterinary Officer also reported the horse to be lame in its left front leg with a wound to the left front cannon. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD HONG KONG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CHINA ANGEL and HIGH RETURN were sent for sampling.
<20/6/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that MASTER RIO was lame in the right hind leg with a wound to the inside of the hock on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, MASTER RIO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
