Racing Incident Report
SUNNY YING began awkwardly.
SAME WORLD and BEST SHOW bumped at the start.
In the early stages, SUNNY YING over-raced and approaching the 1400 Metres was steadied away from the heels of REAL GENEROUS.
ENDOWING was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and for some distance after the 400 Metres raced tight inside REAL GENEROUS when shifting out from behind POETIC JUSTICE into clear running.
Just prior to the 50 Metres, ENDOWING shifted in and bumped POETIC JUSTICE.
When questioned, T H So stated that he had been asked to obtain a forward position on SHINY DAY and if other runners were also ridden along to take up leading positions, he should not engage in a speed battle and should ensure, if possible, he was able to get to the outside of runners. He said the horse had previously won this season when ridden in a similar manner. He said when REGENCY KING and KING OF SCOTS improved their positions after the 1600 Metres, he elected to steady SHINY DAY and allow those horses to cross which REGENCY KING was able to do after the 1400 Metres. He added he immediately shifted SHINY DAY to the outside of the heels of REGENCY KING. He said after REGENCY KING steadied and allowed KING OF SCOTS to cross after the 1200 Metres, REGENCY KING shifted out into a one-off position which resulted in SHINY DAY being taken in to a three wide position without cover near the 1000 Metres. He said he looked to see if it was available to him to shift back in behind REGENCY KING, however, at this time ENDOWING had improved its position to be racing on the inside of SHINY DAY and he was not able to obtain cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEST SHOW, B Prebble stated that his mount never travelled at any stage of the race. He said BEST SHOW raced with its head on the side at various stages of the race and, in his opinion, was not comfortable in its action. Trainer C Fownes stated that BEST SHOW had pleased him since its last start success and he was at a loss to explain the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of BEST SHOW immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BEST SHOW, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BEST SHOW will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SUNNY YING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ENDOWING and POETIC JUSTICE were sent for sampling.
<27/5/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that PRINCE MAG was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, PRINCE MAG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
