Racing Incident Report

From a wide barrier, KICK SERVE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Throughout the race, ABSOLUTE FANTASY travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the performance of VITAL GOLD, T Clark stated that after obtaining a good position throughout the race, he anticipated that ABSOLUTE FANTASY, which had raced in a three wide position without cover throughout the race, would give ground prior to and rounding the Home Turn. He said however when ABSOLUTE FANTASY continued to maintain its position outside him, he elected to attempt to obtain running between MY HOME TOWN and FLYING UNICORN which at the entrance to the Straight shifted out. He said however that prior to being in a position to take the run between those horses, FLYING UNICORN shifted in which resulted in VITAL GOLD being disappointed for that run. He said after this he immediately shifted VITAL GOLD to the outside of FLYING UNICORN in an attempt to improve into the run created by that horse shifting in and inside ABSOLUTE FANTASY. He said however that, once again, before he could establish the run between those horses, FLYING UNICORN shifted back out which resulted in VITAL GOLD being steadied when again disappointed for running between those horses. He added that over the final 200 Metres VITAL GOLD then finished off the race only one paced, however, he could not be critical of the horse’s finishing effort given that it had lost momentum on two occasions in the early part of the Straight. A veterinary inspection of VITAL GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FLYING UNICORN had twisted its left hind plate.
VITAL GOLD, NOBLE BOY and BLOSSOM DAILY were sent for sampling.
<18/4/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that REGENCY WINNER was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
