Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that CARRY THE ZEAL had lost its right front plate. This plate was refitted. CARRY THE ZEAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
SEASONS STAR began only fairly.
From the outside barrier, BOLERO was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Passing the 700 Metres, XI YING MEN proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRAVENESS.
Near the 500 Metres, XI YING MEN got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BRAVENESS and in doing so shifted in, resulting in GLORY HORSIE being crowded for room. XI YING MEN then continued to race close to the heels of BRAVENESS for some distance after this.
Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, PRECISION KING got its head on the side, hung out and proved very difficult to ride. Before being allowed to race again, PRECISION KING will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend.
Passing the 200 Metres, BRAVENESS raced tight inside SUPER FRESH.
When questioned regarding his riding of CARRY THE ZEAL, U Rispoli stated that as the race was over 1000 Metres, it was felt that CARRY THE ZEAL, which was resuming after having not raced since 1 July last year, would be beaten for early speed. He said he was advised to shift CARRY THE ZEAL across behind runners, save ground rounding the Home Turn and to fully test it in the Straight. He said in accordance with his instructions, he shifted CARRY THE ZEAL across behind runners and passing the 600 Metres was racing behind SEASONS STAR, a horse he felt would be a good chance in the race. He said he continued to follow that horse approaching the 400 Metres and rounding the Home Turn immediately placed CARRY THE ZEAL under pressure when SEASONS STAR shifted out. He said he continued to place CARRY THE ZEAL under pressure in the early part of the Straight and the horse responded satisfactorily to his riding. He added near the 200 Metres he was obliged to shift CARRY THE ZEAL in away from the heels of XI YING MEN which shifted out. He said after doing this, he continued to ride CARRY THE ZEAL along including using the whip on the horse, however, over the concluding stages he did not ride it out fully as he was improving towards the heels of TOMODACHI. He added at this time GLORY HORSIE shifted out to his inside and he was therefore not able to shift to the inside of the heels of TOMODACHI to continue riding all the way to the finishing line. U Rispoli was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, his riding of CARRY THE ZEAL over the final 200 Metres had come under notice. He was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure he rides his mounts out in such a manner so as to leave no room for query. A veterinary inspection of CARRY THE ZEAL after the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TOMODACHI had lost its left hind plate.
BRAVENESS and GOLD RACER were sent for sampling.
<31/1/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>Trainer J Size this morning reported to the Veterinary Officer that on returning to the stables last night GLORY HORSIE was found to have blood at both nostrils. An endoscopic examination conducted by the Veterinary Officer this morning confirmed that GLORY HORSIE had blood in the trachea and accordingly GLORY HORSIE was officially deemed to have bled.
